Last month I stumbled across a CD at Soul Wired Cafe called “#VibeSessions” that featured several artists on the cover stylized like SNES characters. I was instantly intrigued, I put it in the player and listened to it as I cruised home. After the first listen, I didn’t take the CD out of rotation for the rest of the week.
The smooth jazzy beats and diverse flows are reminiscent of Curren$y and the J.E.T. Life Crew but with a Jackson twist. I got the chance to catch up with the homie Zak Mozis to get an idea of what they were all about. Here’s what he had to say:
“FNBe is a duo, consisting of Zak Mozis and Donbee, born and raised in Jackson, Ms, possessing many talents, but both share the passion and devotion for producing good quality music. We both have our own unique and distinctive sound ,in which insures variety when listening to us. Our style is basically raw and uncut, but at the same time unorthodox. Always expect the unexpected from our music. We represent the youth, streets, struggle and hustle. Some might do this strictly for the fame and fortune, and others just do it as a hobby. We’re just trying to get on and put on for the city. It’s bigger than RAP!”
They also have frequent collaborations with Marc X, Cam Capollo and Sam P. Check the visual for “Loud and the Power” which features the whole squad:
Here’s the visual for Zak-Mozis’ track “Mary Want Her” from his project “Elevated Revelations”:
I’m excited to see what they are working on and I’m ready to hear more from them. Keep an eye out for FNBe, they have some heat.
