Cortez Bryant is a JSU alumni, a Jackson native and Lil Wayne’s manager. He has been a major source of funding for the Jackson State University Sonic Boom Marching Band and is helping to bring some A-list entertainment to the city for the JSU Homecoming festivities. 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne will be performing hits from their collaborative project Collegrove along with rising Jackson hip hop mainstay Silas.
Bryant recently sat down with Rap Radar’s Elliot Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller to shed some light on the creative process behind Lil Wayne and rest of the Young Money hits factory. Check out the interview below:
“If there were a secret to success, Cortez Bryant probably has the answers. As a member of the Maverick management firm, Tez has branded the careers of hip-hop superstars of Drake, Nicki Minaj, G-Eazy and childhood friend Lil Wayne. More recently, he saw the release of Weezy’s memoir, Gone Til November. Here, Tez details the financial fiasco behind Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records, Birdman’s business practices, Weezys rise, G-Eazy, Tyga and more.”
