Chuck Tee recently released his latest mixtape “Where’s My Lighter?” which features a huge 23 song tracklist and not one feature. The tape is like a journey into the mind of the rebellious spitter as the tracks weave through a slew of topics including skating, drugs, relationships, his life and more. It took a minute to get in touch with him but it was worth the wait. My personal favorite tracks of the tape are “Six”, “Everything’s Everything”, “Smoke Break” and hella more. It’s not often that an artist releases such a large body of work and you find yourself rarely skipping tracks. Him and his crew Kcuf have definitely been putting in work and have carved a lane of their own. This is must hear for any music fan. I got a chance to talk with the elusive rapper about how he feels about success, his inspirations, and his influences. Check out what he had to say:

1. Me: How long have you been rapping?
CT: I’ve been writing on and off since high school. I started getting in the booth and laying it down in 2010.
2. Me: Why do you and Swellophonic have beef?
CT: Who?
3. Me: How long have you been working on “Where’s My Lighter”?
CT: I was “knowingly” working on it for about 2 weeks up until the release date. I started recording new stuff after I dropped “Chillwave” last august. And since then I recorded some 50-60 songs and realized that was overwhelming so I decided to put a project together.
4. Me: What’s your personal favorite track off the tape? I’m feeling that “Six”, you went on that track.
CT: Uhh, my favorite track I guess is “Backflip” no particular reason. I liked the beat and the hook just came.
5. Me: What inspires you to make music?
CT: Life in general is usually where I get inspiration. I don’t know. Anything. Movies, other types of music, history, drug experiences, nature, whatever homie.
6. Me:  How do you define success?
CT: Anything that doesn’t set you back. Hell, not getting arrested is a success man.
7. Me: If you could collab with any artist, who would it be and why?
CT: Pharrell man. He’s dope as fuck with the production. Or Picasso, I feel like he’d do some dope ass cover art
8. Me: What message do you want people to take away after hearing the tape?
CT: Fuck everyone’s opinion. Do you.
