Marcus The Poet has been releasing steady bodies of music since his time attending Holmes Community College. Over the years; he has expanded his musical skill set to include production, mixing and mastering, playing instruments and creating soundscapes for other artists.
His last two projects Outlaw and The Story Of An Unknown Artist showed immense growth and honesty. He is bringing back the soul to hip hop through sampling of the R&B greats and some of the more obscure artists that helped revolutionize the game in ways that people may not even realize.
He’s currently preparing to release a joint project with Bass Rob called October 6 EP:
They have released two singles from the project so far, but there is not a definite release date yet. The soulful aesthetic of Bass Rob is the perfect pair for Marcus’s poetic flow. On “Ghetto Child” the chemistry combines together to create sound similar to an update of the politically charged classic soul albums of the 70’s. On “Chalice” they aim for the sensual sounds of Barry White coupled with lothario lyrics.
